Champagne's Cajun
Swamp Tour

Will depart from the Lake Martin Landing. We will travel slowly so you can view wildlife, and take photographs. As we travel, you will be in the heart of the swamp, and go where no other type of boat can go.

Our tour will travel through very dense aquatic vegetation that is both native, and non native, to us in South Louisiana. As we will travel through a grove of moss covered cypress and tupelo trees, that are 500 plus years old. You will learn the history of Spanish Moss and how it was used many years ago, and still today. We will discuss how cypress trees were taken out of the swamps when there were no boats. I will show you pieces of cypress drift wood, and Cypress roots (Cypress Knees).

egrets nestingThis flooded forest is home to 197 different species of birds. This area is one of the largest nesting area of wading birds. We could see many species of birds, such as Borrowed Owls, Great horned Owls, Pileated Woodpeckers , Anhinga, Cormorants, Wood Ducks, Yellow (and Black) crowned Night Herons, and The Great Blue Heron. Other wildlife may be seen such as  nutria, frogs, snakes, and best of all alligators.

Along the way, we could see alligator 3 to 16 ft long. You will learn how Cajuns harvest alligator eggs, and alligators in South Louisiana. Alligator hunts are available.

The tour will take you into a duck blind, where I will show you how we hunt ducks in the swamps and lakes here in South Louisiana. Guided duck hunts are available, if anyone is interested.

You will see Cajuns fishing for Sac-A-lait (Means Sack of Milk), crappie to other people in the world. Also Catfish, Bream, Largemouth Bass and many other favorite sport fish here in Louisiana.

Please join me, anytime of the year, on a very pleasant trip into the Swamps of Louisiana. Then you will know why it is called the "Sportsman Paradise".
